Welcome to our website dedicated to Santa Lucia, Cuba

We visited this area of Cuba in 2005. This was our first stay in the province of Camaguey, located between those of Las Tunas (east) and Ciego de Avila (west).

The weather was nice this time of the year, although a bit chilly in the evening. The average temperature in this region varies from 19 to 26 degrees Celsius. We enjoyed our one week stay to go snorkeling, visiting the area around Playa Santa Lucia and also to pay some excursions offered by the Cuban tour operator Caribe Sol. A nice area of the country to discover.

The beaches are long and excellent for walking. Going in the water is generally less beautiful than in the « Cayos » of Cuba. During our stay, the sea was calm, warm, and shallow with a beautiful turquoise blue water. From the beach, you can see the long coral reef located about two kilometers. A bit too far to swim, but we saw people going for snorkeling with a pedal boat.

As we love to eat in a Cuban house during our visits to Cuba, well, we were pleasantly surprised how easy this region brings. There is a small village near the hotels area called « La Boca » where Cubans are preparing a great meal of lobster served in a typical house with musicians.

We stayed at the Gran Club Santa Lucia (4*), a small charming hotel with 252 rooms managed by the Cuban Gran Caribe hotel chain. This hotel was completely renovated in 2000 and offers a wide range of services. There are standard rooms and beautiful suites located right on the beach. There are flamingos in the pounds, and you may feed them!

Santa Lucia is located 90 minutes from the international airport of Camaguey (CMW) named « Ignacio Agramonte » in honor of the Cuban revolutionary (war of 10 years, 1868-1878). The airport has two terminals (domestic and international) and only 7 km north-east of the city of Camaguey. It offers an air-conditioned environment with several shops to purchase cigars, rum, coffee, handy crafts. There is also a bar.

Santa Lucia is a nice place to relax, to enjoy long walk, calm sea and diving as well. We have photos and videos of our snorkeling tour in Santa Lucia. In fact, this destination has the second longest coral reef in the world. It is well known by divers.

Discover what we had the chance to see underwater! We have hundreds of photos of fish, coral and other colorful underwater species as well as videos in Flash format. You'll probably be surprised to find so much variety! We also have a section dedicated to our most beautiful photos and many useful informations to know. Good snorkeling or diving!

Tips? Pesos? Dollars? Euro? USD? What you should know before leaving to Cuba, a collection of things to know, about weather, etc.

We hope our website will make you want to discover this province of Cuba.
